2.  Malta Strategy for Resilient Food Systems
High on the agenda for the next 6 months is raising public awareness about the draft Malta Strategy for Resilient Food Systems prepared by Ernst&Young and setting out budgetary decisions for the next 10years.  Following a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights we are provided with the opportunity  to input into strategic and budgetary priorities.  To date PFFA has written an opinion piece in the Malta Independent, gave a 12 page response and created an extended period for public feedback STILL AVAILABLE and MUCH NEEDED (this and all documents are available on the PFFA home page)

Have your say here

If you were given the opportunity to have a say…
  • how would you spend €100million to tackle food insecurity, affordability and import dependency, in Malta?
  • what key priorities would you voice?
Highlights from our summary response to consider include:
  • Is the best use of €100million to build a new Pitkalija??
  • inefficient utilisation of land and water resources
  • food waste and ultra processed foods
  • heavy reliance on chemicals in production and processing
